Ishibashi （石ばし）

Located in a quiet neighborhood just a 3-minute walk from Edogawabashi Station in Tokyo, "Ishibashi" is an eel restaurant that has earned one Michelin star in the Tokyo 2023 edition.

Founded by Ryo Nemoto, the first-generation owner, in 1910, it has been passed down as a family business and is currently being managed by the fourth generation, Kazunori Nemoto. His master was his father, Mitsuaki Nemoto, the third-generation owner. He has been honing his skills since 20 years old and strives to maintain the flavor of "Ishibashi's" famous eel.

Only carefully selected high-quality eels from Shizuoka and Kyushu are used, and the sauce, which is said to be the lifeblood of an eel restaurant, has been passed down since the establishment of the restaurant. The eel is filleted, weighed, skewered, and initially grilled before being steamed for an hour to ensure that the flesh becomes tender. It is then grilled with Binchotan charcoal and served in a lacquered box called "Wajima-Nuri".

This box is very precious and sometimes dishes are served using a historical one that has been handed down for over 100 years since the first generation.

While waiting for the eel to be cooked, Ayuko Nemoto, the young proprietress who is also a sake sommelier, will recommend courses, a la carte dishes, and sake to complement your meal based on your request. There are always 20 to 30 kinds of seasonal sake available, and the lineup is highly regarded by sake connoisseurs, as they have a wide range of connections with sake breweries. They also have rare sake that can only be encountered once. They serve "Rakuzan," a famous tea from Kagurazaka that has been a partner of Ishibashi since the first generation.

The restaurant has three private rooms and three tables, seating a total of about 40 people. Whether it's for business or private use, they hope you can enjoy the space and traditional flavors of "Ishibashi". English menus are available, so we can confidently recommend their restaurant for entertaining overseas guests.

• Arrival time:

  Please arrive 5 minutes before your reserved time to ensure a timely start of your meal. If you do not contact us and exceed your reservation time, it will be automatically canceled.

• Dress Code:

  Dress code is smart casual (Please refrain from wearing T-shirts, shorts, and sandals when you visit.)

• Others:
